A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE

Rich directed three episodes of A Woman Of Substance, Channel 4's vibrant new adaptation of Barbara Taylor Bradford's best-selling dynastic saga. A rags to riches tale of ambition, power and revenge, it tells the story of Emma Harte, a downtrodden kitchen maid who becomes the world's richest woman.

Produced by The Forge and shot in Yorkshire during 2025, Rich helmed episodes 6 and 7 along with the climactic season finale.

McDONALD & DODDS

Rich directed the critically acclaimed opening episode of ITV's detective drama McDonald & Dodds. Set in the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, the story follows blisteringly ambitious South London cop DCI Lauren McDonald (Tala Gouveia) who is unexpectedly partnered with the bumbling bespectacled DS Dodds (Jason Watkins) to solve bewildering crimes. Inspired by classic crime dramas like Columbo, the feature-length investigation is a light-hearted, modern whodunnit. (more)

HUMANS

Rich directed the critically acclaimed finalé of the third series of Channel 4 and AMC's hit science fiction drama Humans. Focusing on the social, cultural and psychological impact of the invention of anthropomorphic robotic "synths", the show is produced by Wild Mercury / Kudos. (more)

HARD SUN

Rich directed the season finalé of BBC One and Hulu's action-packed pre-apocalyptic crime drama Hard Sun. Written by Luther creator Neil Cross, the conspiracy thriller explores humanity's reaction to the loss of life as we know it and the importance of justice in the face of armageddon. Produced by Euston Films, it was shot in London in summer 2017. (more)

THE LAST KINGDOM

Rich directed the critically acclaimed finalé of the second season of BBC Two and Netflix's popular historical drama The Last Kingdom. Adapted by Stephen Butchard from the novels by Bernard Cornwell, the story follows valiant warrior Uhtred, born a Saxon but raised as a Dane, who is torn between his nature and his nurture while helping King Alfred unite the feuding Kingdoms of ninth century England against the threat of Viking invaders. POLDARK

Rich directed the critically acclaimed finalé of the second season of BBC One's popular period drama Poldark. Adapted by Debbie Horsfield from the novels by Winston Graham, the series follows Ross Poldark, a redcoat returned to 18th century Cornwall who struggles between the nobility of his birth and his affinity with the hard-working miners he employs. Produced by Mammoth Screen, filming took place in Bristol and Cornwall in 2016. (more)

SILENT WITNESS

Rich directed an action-packed story for the nineteenth series of BBC One's popular pathology drama Silent Witness. Scripted by returning writer Graham Mitchell, the topical two-part thriller about young extremists returning to the UK from foreign wars was filmed in London in 2015. (more)

THE INTERCEPTOR

Rich directed the explosive two-part finale of high-octane crime drama The Interceptor about a top secret law enforcement team who hunt down Britain’s most dangerous drug dealers. Filmed in London in autumn 2014, it was BBC Drama's biggest in-house commission of the year. (more)

OUR GIRL

Rich directed two episodes of the first full series of Our Girl, written by Tony Grounds. The story follows medic Molly Dawes (played by Lacey Turner) during her first deployment with the British Army as they withdraw from Afghanistan. Produced by BBC Drama, filming took place in South Africa and the UK in spring 2014. (more)

DOCTOR WHO

Rich directed "Let's Kill Hitler", the opening episode of the 2011 autumn series. It was nominated for 'Director Debut of the Year' at the MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival 2012. Prior to working on full episodes, Rich directed and edited five mini episodes, along with special scenes for the Doctor Who Proms, the Doctor Who Live arena tour, the Doctor Who Experience and the opening of ITV's National Television Awards. M.I.HIGH

Rich has directed a total of ten episodes of Kudos' popular CBBC spy drama M.I.High, about school kids working as secret agents. In 2012 Rich directed four episodes of the rebooted sixth series including the series opening and the recurring VFX sequences. In 2013 he returned as Lead Director to shoot six episodes of the seventh and final series. (more)

THE BUCCANEERS

Rich directed episodes 3, 4 and 5 of The Buccaneers, the opulent period drama produced by The Forge for Apple TV+ inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel. (more)

TELL ME EVERYTHING

Rich has been Lead Director on two seasons of Tell Me Everything, the provocative coming-of-age comedy drama following a group of teens navigating their way through the stresses of mental health, love and loss in social-media-saturated suburbia. The first season was a flagship launch show for ITVX in December 2022, and was supported by the BFI's Young Audiences Content Fund. The second series dropped on ITVX in June 2024. (more)
